The magician displays a steel triangle. In full view and faster than the eye can follow. It changes shape to form a steel circle, but that is not all... as it instantly changes again into a steel square! A tri-squircle perhaps? A paradox which illustrates perfectly a classical problem of mathematics appearing in geometry. The problem is to construct a square with the same area as a circle. This problem has spawned not an expression: "Search the squaring of the circle" which means "Trying to solve an insoluble problem."

Le magicien présente un triangle fait de métal. En pleine lumière, à la vue de tous et plus rapidement qu'un éclair, le triangle se transforme en cercle puis après un autre geste magique le cercle se change encore une fois pour devenir un carré. Comment des formes géométriques si différentes peuvent elles se matérialiser de la sorte? Un véritable paradoxe qui illustre parfaitement un problème classique de mathématiques apparaissant en géométrie. Le problème consiste à construire un carré de même aire qu'un cercle. Ce problème impossible a donné naissance à une expression : « Chercher la quadrature du cercle » qui signifie « Tenter de résoudre un problème insoluble ».
