Le magicien place un chapeau vide sur la table. Il tient dans sa main une tige sans fleur et y fait apparaître une rose rouge. Il cueille la fleur et une autre rose rouge apparaît sur la tige. Le magicien dépose dans le chapeau la rose qu'il vient de retirer. Il cueille encore la fleur et la tige fleurit de nouveau. Il recommence encore et cette fois une rose jaune apparaît sur la tige. Il fait une passe magique au-dessus du chapeau avec la rose jaune et retournant le chapeau sur la table on constate que toutes les roses ont disparu pour faire place à un foulard rouge.
