In early 2001, Tenyo has renewed its offer to exchange for gift when you purchase three Tenyo trick, this time the effect is called "Illusion Scale and still is an ingenious creation of Toru Suzuki! If the principle of the trick is quite old, his adaptation is truly original. Two plastic board which pictured cats are shown as being exactly the same size yet they appear to be magically stretching and shrinking. They are even measured with the magical ruler to prove a miracle! A very visual effect whit his small carrying case.

Début 2001, Tenyo a renouvelé son offre de cadeau en contrepartie de trois tours achetés, cette fois le tour s'appelle « Illusion Scale » et c'est encore une ingénieuse création du très prolifique Toru Suzuki ! Si le principe du tour, qui ressemble à une ancienne illusion d'optique bien connue, n'est pas tout jeune, son adaptation est vraiment originale et complétement inédite. Il se compose de deux languettes courbes sur lesquelles sont dessinée un chats et d'une réglette servant à mesurer les languettes, le tout est présentées dans un petit étui. Les deux languettes semblent de même taille et le magicien les mesure grâce à le réglette pour le prouver. Pourtant, l'une des languettes sera étirée, pour devenir plus longue que l'autre devant les yeux intrigués des spectateurs... La réglette est là une fois de plus pour prouver le miracle ! Un tour très visuel et vraiment réussit.

Roll a sheet of paper into a tube, and make three handkerchiefs appear one after the other! And then insert a white handkerchief into the paper, and blow through one end of the tube. The handkerchief changes its color to red. Finally the handkerchief becomes a shower of confetti which flutters down in the air. With its colorful silk handkerchiefs, this magic effect is ideal for parties. Handkerchiefs appear, and change colors.

Une petite feuille de papier est roulée pour former un tube. On s'en sert immédiatement pour l'apparition de trois foulards de soie de couleurs différentes. Le foulard blanc est introduit dans le tube et lorsque le magicien y souffle comme dans une sarbacane, le foulard expulsé à changé de couleur pour devenir rouge. Finalement, le foulard se transforme en une pluie de confettis ! Cet appareil propose une nouvelle version du « Super Dye tube ». La notice d'utilisation explique également comment on peut l'utiliser pour la production de pièces et de billets de banque, après que les foulards aient été retirés.

Push a card so that it penetrates right through a transparent blue crystal. Cause a coin to sink down into the crystal, and then rise back to the surface. And then your spectator can immediately touch the surface of the crystal, but there are absolutely no holes or slots anywhere. This trick allows you to experience the astonishment yourself, when the crystal surface that you just touched allows coins and cards to sink inside. This amazing magic was created by Lubor Fiedler, the brilliant Austrian magician. The visual effect will cause you to question your own eyes.

Tips from Simcoscor:
- Take the mummy (and its gimmick) of T-186 Anti Gravity Rock, and use it to do a stunning levitation with T-198 Blue Crystal. You won't believe how strong it is! Just try it! Show to spectators that the surface of the "Blue Crystal" is hard. Then activate the gimmick and place the mummy diagonally so that the feet protruding from the box. Then re-activate the gimmick and the mummy will start to levitate into the air.
- You can also make another experiment by placing a small drop of water on the Crystal, the effect is really interesting.
- To justify the use of a thick plastic playing card just explain that a simple cardboard playing card would be too fragile to be immersed in this strange blue matter. It also helps justify the use of the transparent blue plate, when you perform the routine with the coin, to protect spectators from any projections. After it's all about staging and how you present your routine.

Un mystérieux cristal bleu absorbe la matière... Une carte à jouer pénètre à vue dans cette plaque translucide pourtant solide. Une pièce de monnaie semble « couler » dans le cristal puis remonte à la surface. Pourtant, la surface de la plaquette peut être aussitôt examinée sans que l'on puisse déceler la moindre ouverture.

Astuce de Simcoscor:
- Utilisez la momie (et son gimmick) du tour T-186 Anti Gravity Rock, et utilisez la pour présenter une expérience de lévitation avec le tour T-198 "Blue Crystal".
Montrer que la surface du "Blue Crystal" est solide aux spectateurs. Ensuite activez le gimmick puis placez la momie en diagonale afin que les pieds dépassent. Puis, ré-activez le gimmick et la momies va commencer à léviter et à s’élever dans les airs.
- Vous pouvez aussi faire une autre expérience en déposant une petite goutte d'eau sur le Crystal, l'effet est vraiment intéressant.
- Pour justifier l'usage d'une carte à jouer épaisse en plastique il suffit d'expliquer qu'une simple carte en carton serait trop fragile pour être plongée dans cette étrange matière. Cela permet aussi de justifier l'utilisation de la plaque transparente lorsque que vous présenter la routine avec la pièce de monnaie afin de "protéger" les spectateurs d'éventuel projections. Âpres tout est question de mise en scène et de la manière dont vous présentez votre routine.

In its 2002 Japanese catalog, Tenyo announces a 32-page booklet entirely devoted to the "Blue Crystal" trick created by Lubor Fiedler and marketed by Tenyo in 2000.  In fact, once "Blue Crystal" released in Japan, Tenyo has received dozens of emails from magicians around the world explaining various ideas and possible uses of the props. Hiroshi Sawa was also very inspired by this creation and he was commissioned to write this book bringing together the best ideas of routines for Blue Crystal. This book (32 pages) only sold in Japan is written in Japanese by Hiroshi Sawa, and there are also some illustrations and photos inside. This booklet explains nine magical effects achievable with Blue Crystal from Lubor Fiedler. This book will not only enrich your repertoire but also to learn more about how Mr Sawa creates concept and invents ingenious ideas. Among the 9 routines explained in this book you will find: The Bermuda Triangle, the spirit of magic butterflies, a two-dimensional creature, Crystal Linking Ring etc... 

For example "Spirit of magic butterflies" is a routine using the props as an insect specimen box. 2 little white paper butterflies are inside the box, but magician make one come alive and penetrate up and out of the box throug the top clear panel whit a pen. The spectator blow on the box and the second butterflies also penetrate upward flying outside the box. Magician taps on the clear panel proving it's solid and there is no hole. Now magician use an erasable marker to draw a picture of 2 butterflies on the top clear panel of the blue crystal box. And magically the drawing appear to sink slowly into the box, sunk to the very bottom and rise one again to the surface. This trick is described in English in the November 2002 Genii magazine.

Par exemple l'effet "L'esprit du papillon" utilise la boite de Blue Crystal comme une boite utilisée pour entreposer des spécimens d'insectes. Deux petits papillons en papier sont montrés à l'intérieur de la boite.  En utilisant un stylo, le magicien va réussir à en ramener un papillon à la vie et à le faire pénétrer à travers la vitre de la boite pour qu'il en sorte. Le spectateur va alors souffler vers la boite et le deuxième papillon va alors s'envoler et s’échapper à son tour de la boite malgré la vitre qui l’emprisonne.  Le spectateur pourra taper sur la vitre pour prouver qu'elle est solide et qu'il n'y a aucun trou. Lors du final le magicien utilise un feutre effaçable pour dessiner deux papillons sur la vitre du Blue Crystal. C'est alors que quelques instant plus tard le dessin s'enfonce doucement à l'intérieur de la boite, jusqu’au fond, et remonte ensuite à la surface. Cet effet à été traduit en Anglais et est décrit dans l’édition de Novembre 2002 de Genii Magasine.

A card is freely selected, and placed by your spectator into an envelope. It is completely impossible to see the card from outside the envelope. However, you are able to accurately name the card. Even when your spectator inserts several cards into the envelope, you can name them all, one after the other. This magic effect requires no practice. You will feel as if you have X-ray vision when you can name the cards inside the envelope. 

You can even use a borrowed deck of cards, so this effect has a wide variety of applications. Also described is a great magic routine in which you accurately name all three cards that have been freely chosen and inserted into the envelope. The stand may be handed out to your audience for close inspection, but there is nothing for them to find. The gimmick is particularly ingenious and you can combine this effect with many card tricks. In addition you will find an extra envelope in the box.

Un spectateur choisi librement une carte et l'introduit dans une enveloppe qui est placée sur un petit support. Il paraît impossible de voir à travers l'enveloppe, pourtant le magicien parvient à découvrir le nom de la carte. Le spectateur peut même dissimuler plusieurs cartes dans l'enveloppe, elles seront nommées les unes après les autres par le magicien !

Of course, you can perform this with a borrowed bill, which will dramatically increase its impact on your audience.

 This year has also produced four additional new items to be sold only to magicians (that means they will not be sold to laymen in Japan as most Tenyo tricks are). Your spectator mixes up eight cards each of which shows the picture of a race horse numbered from 1 through 8. You then mix the cards further, according to your spectator's directions. You write a prediction on a piece of paper. Surprisingly, your prediction matches the order of the second and first place horses. A further prediction matches the order of horses through three to eight. 

Trivia:

There are two different versions of this magic. The original version released in 2000 in the "Special Magician collection" and modern edition re-sold in Japan in recent years. The trick is the same but the props is slightly different. First, the color of the back of the cards was blue on the original version and is henceforth green. But the most significant change is that the quality of the card is different because the cards included in the first version are much thicker and better quality. The difference is really flagrant and original cards are beautiful, solid and pleasant to handle. In fact it is exactly the same style of cards, very thick, which are used in Hiroshi Kondo's "Shot in the Dark" trick.
So, If you have the opportunity to purchase this trick and you have a choice, therefore unhesitatingly preferred the first edition much better and in addition received a notice English booklet (which is not the case with the re-edition where the instructions is a single sheet written in Japanese because the trick is from now exclusively sold in Japan.)

Ce tour fait partie d'une série limitée destinée aux magiciens qui ne sera vendue que dans les magasins spécialisés. Il est en général particulièrement apprécié des professionnels. Vous proposez à votre public de participer à un jeu facile basé sur les courses de chevaux. Premièrement, votre spectateur mélange huit cartes, chacune montrant l'image d'un cheval de course, numéroté de 1 à 8. Vous mélangez ensuite davantage les cartes en donnant des instructions à votre spectateur. Le but du jeu est de deviner l'ordre des chevaux. Vous écrivez une prédiction sur une feuille de papier. Votre prédiction indique l'arrivée du premier et deuxième cheval. En plus, il y a une autre prédiction dans le bas de la feuille qui indique l'ordre exact des autres chevaux !

Anecdote:
Il existe deux versions différentes de ce tour. La version originale sortie en 2000 dans la collection "spécial Magicien" et une ré-édition moderne vendue au Japon depuis quelques années. Le tour est le même mais le matériel est légèrement différent. Premièrement la couleur du dos des cartes était bleu sur la version originale et elle est désormais verte. Mais le changement le plus significatif est que la qualité des cartes est différente car celles incluses dans la première version sont beaucoup plus épaisses et de meilleure qualité. La différence est vraiment flagrante et les cartes originales sont plus belles, solides et agréables à manipuler. En fait il s'agit exactement du même style de carte, très épaisses, que celle que l'ont peut trouver dans le tour d'Hiroshi Kondo "Shot in The Dark".Donc si vous avez l'occasion d'acheter ce tour et que vous avez le choix, privilégiez  sans aucune hésitation la première édition bien meilleure en tout points et qui en plus bénéficie d'une notice Anglaise sous forme de livret (ce qui n'est plus la cas avec la ré-édition ou la notice est une simple feuille écrite en Japonais car le tour est désormais exclusivement vendue au Japon.)

 You show your audience a 4-inch tube wich is printed with various card numbers and suits on its surface. When you spin the tube on the table, the numbers and suits become mixed up in a blur of colours. A card is selected from a deck and remembered. When you spin the tube again, your audience will be able to see the selected card mysteriously appear!

Review:

Michael Sibbernsen's "Mind Spinner" is one of the strangest revelations of a chosen card I've ever seen. A thick white plastic tube three and a half inches long, wich has black and red numerales and suit pips all over it, is spun on the table. All the printed images blur. After the spectator select a card from a deck, the tube is spun again and a spectator staring directly down on it from above will clearly see, amid the spinning blur, the numeral 3 and a diamond pip. In fact the selected card mysteriously appear. The effect is really magical because the revelation appears like a hologram, and despite the very rapid movement of the tube, pictures appear very clearly and remain stable in the air. This fascinating optical trick is reminiscent of optical toys produced in the late 1800s. It does, however, take a real knack to get the tube to spin properly. In addition, the tube can be examined by the spectator, he may even try to turn the tube but it will never reproduce the appearance of the playing card.

Vous montrez à votre public un petit tube décoré d'une variété de nombres et de suites de cartes. Lorsque vous faites tourner le tube sur la table, les nombres et les suites se mélangent dans un effet de flou. Ensuite, vous demandez à un spectateur de sélectionner et mémoriser une carte. Review:
"Mind Spinner" de Michael Sibbernsen est la plus étrange révélation d'une carte choisie qu'il m'est été donné de voir. Un petit tube creux en plastique blanc de quelques centimètres de long sur lequel sont imprimé des nombres et figures rouges et noires ainsi que de nombreux dessins de carreaux, trèfles, piques et cœurs est tourné sur la table comme une toupies. En tournant, tout les dessins imprimées dessus deviennent flou et se mélangent et on ne peux rien distinguer de spécial. Un spectateur choisi alors une carte au hasard et on tourne à nouveau le tube. A ce moment la le spectateur pourra voir, en se plaçant directement au dessus du tube en rotation, le numéro 3 et un symbole représentant un carreau, se dessiner bien nettement à quatre endroits fixes du cercle formé par le tube qui tourne à toute vitesse. Bien sur c'est la carte choisie par le spectateur. L'effet est vraiment magique car la révélation apparait un peu comme un hologramme dans le vide et malgré le mouvement très rapide du tube les inscriptions se dessinent très nettement et restent stables. Cet incroyable effet d'optique est en fait une nouvelle utilisation de jouets optiques vendue dans les années 1800. Il faut quand même noter qu'il faudra vous entrainer afin d'avoir le bon coup de main pour faire tourner le tube proprement. De plus le tube pourra être examiné par le spectateur qui pourra même essayer de le faire tourner mais il n'arrivera jamais à reproduire l'apparition de la carte.

You place a card which shows a blank canvas onto the table. You then display three cards, each showing a different coloured tube of paint. These three cards are placed onto the table. When you next display these three cards, the paint in the tubes have magically decreased. You turn over the canvas card and it is now completetly painted in full colour. Everything can now be examined.

Review:

Toru Suzuki "Magic painting" uses an uncredited principle of Bro. John Hamman's ("Fantabulous" was marketed by Gene DeVoe about 40 years ago) to produce an effect where tubes of colored paint, each printed on a different card, magically paint a blank-canvas card that has been placed aside. Requiring only modest skill, the Glide and Double lift, this colorful trick will fool both laymen and magicians because Hamman's principle, wich allows one gimmicked card to masquerade as many, allows all four cards to be examined at the end.

Tips:

At the end of the routine you can increase the impact of the effect by asking the spectator to take in his hand the card with the red tube of paint and ask him to crush it. When the card is discovered the paint tube has exploded on the drawing ! Now you can finish your presentation !

Trivia:
In 2013 Tenyo decided to produce again Magic Painting with a new packaging. This is the second time this has happened. Now It is possible to buy this effect at a reasonable price thanks to this new release.

Vous placez sur la table une carte qui représente une toile blanche. Vous montrez ensuite trois cartes, chacune montrant un tube de peinture de différente couleur. Review:

Magic painting de Toru Suzuki utilise ici sans le créditer un principe inventé par John Hamman ("Fantabulous" à été vendu par Gene DeVoe il y a plus de 40 ans).
Dans le tour de Tenyo des tubes de gouaches de différentes couleurs, chacun imprimé sur une carte différente, vont peindre comme par magie un tableau pourtant montré vierge qui est posé de coté sur la table. Ne demandant que peu de compétences techniques, Le Glide et le Double lift, cette routine colorée trompera autant les spectateurs que les magiciens les plus avertis car le principe d'Hamman qui permet à une carte truquée de changer toutes les autres permet au 4 cartes d'êtres examinée à la fin rendant l'effet encore plus mystérieux et incroyable.

Astuce:
A la fin du tour vous pouvez augmenter l'impact de l'effet en demandant au spectateur de prendre la carte avec le tube de peinture rouge ( qui est intacte) dans sa main, puis vous lui demandez de presser bien fort avec son autre main sur la carte. Quand celle ci sera retournée le dessin du tube de peinture aura explosé et vous pourrez finir votre présentation en beauté.

Anecdote:
En 2013 Tenyo a décider de produire à nouveau Magic Painting dans un nouvel emballage. C'est d’ailleurs la seconde fois que cet effet est commercialisé à nouveau depuis sa première apparition en 1999. Il est donc à nouveau possible d'obtenir ce tour à un prix raisonnable.

With this versatile prop you can perform many effects including Lucky Card, Cutting the Ace and Animal Illusion. Also included with the effect are 14 trick cards and the Wild Wallet Book. With the leather version there is a booklet with 9 routines (the original Animal Illusion and 8 other effects). Comes with the cards for the original Animal Illusion and 9 additional gaff cards. New routines include:
-Great Business Card Swap: Your business card transposes with the spectators card.
-Money Mirror: 1 dollar bill changes to a hundred with a twist.
-Lucky Card: A "Lucky Card" in your wallet becomes two different freely selected cards. A version of the univesal card plot.

-Cutting The Ace: A hole suddenly appears in what used to be a regular card.
-Transpo to the Past: A version of the original animal illusion using photos of yourself. Photos of seveal objects are shown, one is selected. The object in the photo vanishes and appears between your hands in a photo in the wallet.

Tomoyuki Shimomura's "Wild Wallet" is a re-release of an ancien item first marketed in 1991. While originally vinyl, the wallet is now made of leather. The instruction booklet has been expanded to 16 pages and 14 printed, gimmicked cards are included for the nine routines. The wallet works in typical Himber style with the addition of a center clear section which also appears to be a pocket. So, in addition to using the wallet to switch things, you can also secretly turn them over. Some of the tricks are extremely clever, but the best is "Transpo to the past", where you display three photographs of yourself. In one you hold a rope, in the second a deck of cards, in the third a coin. You also display a fourth photograph where you hold nothing. This is placed into the clear compartment in the wallet. The spectator selects one of the photos of you holding a prop and it is placed on top of the clear pocket. The wallet is closed, a magical gesture made, and reopened. The prop has vanished from your hands in the first photo, and appeared in your hands in the photo inside the clear pocket. This can be repeated with the other two photos of the remaining props.

Le "Leather Wild Wallet" deTomoyuki Shimomura est une ré-édition d'un ancien tour vendu en 1991. A l'origine le matériel était fait en vinyl plastique, aujourd'hui Tenyo nous offre une version améliorée tout en cuir. La notice à été revue et fait maintenant 16 pages et des cartes spéciales sont incluses pour effectuer en tout 9 routines différentes. Ce portefeuille truqué est en fait une sorte de portefeuille Himber avec en plus l'addition d'une pochette transparente qui ressemble à celle que l'ont trouve dans les portefeuilles classiques et qui sert à mettre une photo. Donc, en plus de pouvoir utiliser le portefeuille pour échanger les choses, vous pouvez aussi le retourner secrètement. Plusieurs des effets inclus sont extrêmement ingénieux, mais le plus impressionnant est surement 'Transpo to the Past" dans lequel vous montrez trois photographies de vous même. Sur la première vous tenez dans la main une corde, sur la deuxième vous tenez un paquet de cartes, et sur la troisième une pièce de monnaie. Vous montrez aussi une quatrième photo sur laquelle vous ne tenez rien du tout dans vos mains. Cette dernière photo est placée dans le compartiment transparent du portefeuille. Le spectateur choisi alors une photo ou vous tenez un objet et vous placez cette photo dans le portefeuille. Le portefeuille est refermé, vous faite un geste magique, et il est réouvert. Le spectateur découvrira alors que le matériel que vous teniez dans votre main sur la première photo à disparu pour réapparaitre dans vos mains sur la photo enfermée dans le compartiment transparent en plastique. Vous pouvez alors répéter l'opération avec les deux autres photos restantes. Un effet vraiment bluffant.
